The evolution of DESIGNING HUMAN SPACES

When you meet someone new, you can usually tell within the first few moments whether you like them or not. There are various psychological reasons for this, but it boils down to the way they look, talk or convey their ideas, which triggers certain reactions in our own mind and body. These triggers will either be positive, and promote connection, or be negative, and create a feeling of disconnect. And when there is a spark, we simply want to spend more time in their company.

Similarly; the way we experience and respond to aesthetics; sounds, smells and textures in spaces, will evoke the same type of feelings. And this is why we could walk that extra mile for food, when we already have a restaurant on our doorstep, which is less appealing.

``When a flower does not bloom you fix the environment in which it grows; not the flower`` - Alexander Den Heijer

In the design world there is a checklist approach to defining a brief:
“What is the primary function of the space?” and “How many people will occupy the space?” Or “What kind of style do you like?”

Now while these questions are important; WE choose to look a level deeper:
What motivates you in your life? What do you feel passionate about? Which of your senses drives you the most? What are your core values?

Understanding you better has in important influence on our approach to each environment we create. Our drive is to bring a quality experience to people in their spaces. And we choose to remain students of human psychology so that we may make the most positive impact on you in your environment. We are set on creating living spaces that are inviting, encourage connection and make you want to linger for longer.

Naspers Canteen

``I want to thank XPERIENCEMAKERS for the vast improvement in the Naspers staff dining room. It has not only made my team prouder of their work environment, but the customers actually sit and enjoy their meals here rather than taking a take-away. This has led to a much warmer and buzzing atmosphere. You have truly improved our lives!!!`` - Paula Klemp, Facilities Manager, Sodexo Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd
