Office Design Trends

Wireless SpacesLong gone are the days where corporate office buildings are made up of grey-walled cubicles, maroon office chairs and a few water coolers. Most office spaces are now carefully engineered and meticulously designed to promote creativity, enhance productivity and encourage engagement.

Here are some of the current office design trends you can expect to see in corporate workspaces this year:

Wireless spaces

One of the most requested solutions in office spaces at the moment, is to help with eliminating wires and clutter from desktops and conference rooms. This seemingly simple job has a significant impact on productivity and team morale.

A touch of nature

Reclaimed wood panel installations, exposed concrete flooring and incorporating natural flora patterns in fabrics and artwork, are all becoming more prominent. Plant life itself in the form of living walls are also increasingly popular.

Multipurpose workspaces

Cubicles are disappearing and being replaced by non-assigned seating. Multipurpose spaces can be utilised for everything, from multimedia presentations to casual breakout areas. Oval-shaped office desks allow for a more convenient place for 4-6 people to meet. At Lona we created both casual and formal meeting areas, which allow more opportunities for brainstorming and collaborative work.

Designated down time

Designated down timeModern work spaces are the antithesis of rigid workstations. Offices can be more comfortable and casual, which stimulates relaxed collaboration. Many offices now mandate the inclusion of dedicated lounge areas to make working more enjoyable.

Colour boost

If you organise your work environment by colour, it is proven to help your thoughts be more organised and creative. Several studies show that colour boosts happiness, productivity and creativity.

Long tables

The community table has been a meaningful concept for centuries. It’s a symbol of kinship or alliance that is now becoming an important part of the work environment. Today’s communal table is more relaxed, collaborative and congenial.

The end of permanent layouts

Permanent layouts are giving way to the needs of an ever-changing work landscape. Modular components can be mixed, stacked and moved around, to offer innumerable combinations for a dynamic and collaborative workplace.
